Information for veterans

We understand that it can often be difficult for those who have served in the armed forces, either in the UK or overseas, to get to a point where they feel able to seek help for the difficulties they are experiencing so well done for making the first step.

Staff at Healthy Minds HM are trained in delivering evidenced based psychological therapies to people suffering with common mental health disorders such as:

  • Depression
  • Panic Disorder
  • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
  • Generalised Anxiety Disorder
  • Specific Phobias
  • Agoraphobia
  • Social Phobia
  • Health Anxiety
  • Obsessional Compulsive Disorder.

Evidence shows that Veterans can suffer from any one or more of these disorders as a result of their experiences.

What we offer

We offer the appropriate psychological therapies recommended by the Government health advisory body, the National Institute for Health & Care Excellence (NICE) .

For example both Trauma Focussed Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing are the effective treatments for PTSD and are available through Healthy Minds. Healthy Minds is a free NHS service and is part of Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust.

Supporting you

Our staff are trained to work with people from a range of backgrounds and experiences, to listen rather than to judge, and to cope with and understand a range of strong emotions.

We take confidentiality very seriously and are happy to discuss any concerns you might have about being in touch with us.  We hope you feel able to get in contact with us.
